Commercial Driver - Class A or B

Summary:

Safe daily collection of solid waste & recyclables on a specified route Monday through Saturday

Responsibilities:

Drive a garbage truck safely on specified routes to mechanically and manually collect solid waste

Transport solid waste to appropriate disposal sites

Courteously serve and interact with customers

Comply with all DOT requirements and MVD safety standards

Physical Requirements include, but are not limited to:

Occasional to frequent industrial lifting; lifting waist high

Gripping with hands

Moving at brisk consistent pace

Occasional bending

Requirements:

Possess a valid Class A or B California Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record

HS Diploma, GED or equivalent

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and to follow safe operating practices

Must possess strong interpersonal skills relating to good customer services

 

Mechanic

Summary:

Primary responsibilities include performing repairs to all company owned equipment such as Trucks, Trailers, Yellow Iron and Automobiles to company and DOT standards. Mechanics complete all repairs keeping safety, quality, efficiency at the forefront. Mechanics are expected to diagnose and communicate parts and repair needs of all equipment in the fleet to the shop supervisor. Mechanics will perform all aspects of truck and equipment repair to include but not limited to, Electrical, Hydraulic, Brakes, Suspension, steering as well as performing Preventive Maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members and other departments
  • Perform scheduled service, Preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on all company owned equipment to include road calls.
  • Must be able to document parts, time, and description of repairs for every unit to be turned in at end of every shift
  • Inspect and diagnose mechanical issues that are reported on DVIR’s and communicate repairs on DVIR back to driver
  • Must be able to use appropriate resources to effectively and efficiently diagnose and repair units
  • Must be able to perform road calls to maintain maximum uptime
  • Must have knowledge of welding and be able to perform welding repairs as needed
  • Will attend vendor and company sponsored training
  • Proactively communicate issues to supervisors as they arise
  • Must be able to contribute to the goals of the Shop, Leadership Team and Company
  • Abides by all company policies, safety rules, and assist with maintaining a clean safe workplace
  • Will perform any other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Class C license is required Class B preferred
  • ASE Certified a plus but not required
  • Must be able to diagnose with Diagnostic laptop or equivalent
  • Applicant should be self-motivated, safety oriented and be able to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Experience servicing Class 6-8 and heavy duty equipment required
  • Hydraulic and electrical system experience a plus
  • Experience in the waste industry is preferred but not required
